Websites for cannabis stores
Cannabis dispensary website design that stays inside the rules
Websites for licensed cannabis stores and dispensaries: an age gate that actually works, a live menu written as plain product facts, reserve-and-pick-up or delivery where your licence allows it, and licence lines where your regulator expects them, with nothing a regulator would read as lifestyle advertising.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a cannabis store website include?
A cannabis store website should confirm a visitor is of legal age before showing anything, then present the menu as factual product information: format, potency as labelled, size and price. It should let adults reserve for pickup or order delivery where the licence allows, show each store’s licence details, and avoid testimonials, lifestyle imagery and anything that could appeal to young people.

- Ownership

What every cannabis store website includes
An age gate that does real work
Visitors confirm their age and province or state before a single product appears, the answer is remembered only for the session, and a no sends them away from the menu. Regulators ask for reasonable steps to keep young people out, and a gate that can be skipped is not one.
The menu as product facts
Each product page carries the format, size, producer and the potency the label states, with prices only where your jurisdiction allows them online. There are no effect claims, no mood words and no pictures of people, so the menu informs without promoting a way of life.
Live stock from the till
The menu reads stock from your point-of-sale system, so an adult does not reserve something that sold an hour ago. It sends to any system that accepts orders by webhook or API; a direct connection to your POS or menu platform is scoped with an advisor and quoted.
Reserve, pick up or deliver
Click and collect with a pickup window, curbside where the store is allowed to offer it, and delivery only to the places your licence covers. Each option repeats the ID rule at the moment it matters, at the handover.
Licence lines on every store page
Each store carries its own authorization or licence number, its seal where the province requires one, and the age line for its jurisdiction. A chain with stores in several states shows each state’s line on that store’s page, not one footer for all.
Search and email instead of ads
Google and Meta accept almost no cannabis advertising, so the site has to be found on its own: store pages for each town, factual guides and a clean product structure. An opt-in list with an age check brings shoppers back without paying a platform that will not carry you.
Guides that rank without claims
Plain guides on reading labels, storage, where adults may consume and how edibles differ. They answer what people search, and every one is written to stay clear of health and effect claims.
Compliance
The rules for cannabis stores, handled in the design
Cannabis may be sold legally and still barely advertised. These are the website and advertising rules we design around in Canada, Ontario, California and Colorado, plus what Google and Meta will and will not run, each linked to the body that sets it.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your provincial or state regulator, or your lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- Canada
No testimonials, no lifestyle imagery
Section 17 of the Cannabis Act prohibits promoting cannabis or a cannabis service through testimonials or endorsements, or by associating it with a way of life such as glamour, recreation, excitement, vitality, risk or daring. The designs show no people, no reviews and no party or nature-escape scenes; products appear as facts.
- Canada
Factual promotion only, where young people cannot see it
Authorized sellers may use informational and brand-preference promotion only in places young persons are not permitted, or online where reasonable steps keep them from accessing it. That is why every design opens behind an age gate and the menu reads as information about products, not persuasion.

- Ontario
Reasonable measures to keep the website 19+
The AGCO’s Registrar’s Standards require licensees to take reasonable measures to ensure people using the store’s website, app or similar platform are at least 19. Ontario versions of the designs ask for age before the menu and repeat the ID rule at reservation and handover.

- Ontario
Advertising that does not appeal to minors or promise anything
Section 6 of the Registrar’s Standards says advertising must not appeal to people under 19, be false or misleading, link cannabis to success, enjoyment or solving a problem, or associate it with medicine or health. Copy in the designs is factual, and no page suggests a benefit.

- Ontario
The Provincial Retail Seal online, and how online orders may be filled
Licensed stores may sell online for delivery or for pickup in the store or right beside it, and the Provincial Retail Seal must be displayed prominently on the website or app used for the store. Ontario designs place the seal in the header area and footer of every page.
- California
Licence number in every ad, and an adult audience
California requires advertising and marketing to identify the licensee, including its licence number, and to run only where at least 71.6 percent of the audience is reasonably expected to be 21 or over. Direct messages need an age affirmation first. The US designs put the licence number on every page, text and email.
- Colorado
Internet advertising only to a mostly adult audience
Colorado’s marijuana rules allow internet advertising only where the business has reliable evidence that no more than 30 percent of the audience is expected to be under 21, which in practice means an age gate and audience data. Other states set their own versions, so each store page follows its own state.

- Google and Meta
Paid ads are mostly closed to cannabis
Google’s ad policy prohibits ads for recreational drugs including cannabis, apart from a Search-only pilot in Canada for licensed producers, government operators and authorized private retailers, extended to the end of 2026. Meta does not allow ads promoting THC products. The site is built to be found through search and an opt-in list instead.

Apps for cannabis storesBranding
Cannabis branding in regulated markets has less room than any other retail: no lifestyle, no youth appeal, often limits on colour, size and where a logo may appear. The brand has to work through type, tone and a calm store.

Questions
Cannabis stores: common questions
- How much does a cannabis store website cost?
- A cannabis store website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- How do you market a dispensary when Google and Facebook will not run cannabis ads?
- Mostly not. Google’s policy bars ads for cannabis, with a Search-only pilot in Canada for licensed producers and authorized retailers that runs to the end of 2026, and Meta does not accept ads promoting THC products. That is why your own website and local search carry so much weight. We build for search and an opt-in customer list, and we never promise that any platform will approve a cannabis ad.
- Does a cannabis store website need an age gate?
- In practice, yes. Canada allows factual cannabis promotion online only where reasonable steps keep young people out, Ontario expects reasonable measures to keep store websites 19+, and US states tie online advertising to adult audiences. Our gate asks before any product shows and does not let a visitor skip it.Search engines can still read your store pages, guides and contact details, so the gate protects the menu without hiding the business.
- Can we show prices and stock on the website?
- Usually, as factual product information behind the age gate, though the rules differ by province and state and some limit how price may be promoted. The designs show price as a plain line on the menu, never as a deal banner, and stock comes from your till so it matches the shelf.Your regulator or lawyer has the final word on how prices may appear for your licence.
- Will the menu connect to our point-of-sale system?
- It can. The site sends reservations to any system that accepts orders by email, webhook or API, and it can read stock from a menu or POS export. A direct, live connection to your particular POS or menu platform is scoped with an advisor and quoted before work starts, so nothing is assumed.
- Will my cannabis store website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a cannabis store website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts. You test the age gate, a reservation and every licence line before launch, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
- Can I get one of these cannabis store website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for cannabis stores. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
