Websites for wholesale distributors
Wholesale distributor website design built for the reorder
Websites for wholesale distributors: a public catalogue and line card that rank, trade account applications that collect resale certificates, account pricing after login, fast reorder lists, and orders that can arrive by EDI or punchout from the buyer’s own system.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a wholesale distributor website include?
A wholesale distributor website should show the full catalogue publicly, with brands, specs and stock status, and keep account pricing behind a trade login. Buyers should be able to apply for an account online with their resale or exemption certificate, reorder from saved lists, and send orders from their own purchasing system where they use EDI or punchout.
- Price

- Ownership

- Hosting and care

What every wholesale distributor website includes
Trade account applications online
Business details, trade references, credit terms and a resale or exemption certificate upload in one short application. Your credit team approves it in the back office, and account pricing switches on without a phone call.
Account pricing after login
The public catalogue shows products, specs and stock status, and each buyer sees their own contract or tier price once logged in. Keeping prices out of public view also keeps your advertised prices inside each supplier’s policy.
Reorder lists and quick order
Saved lists, past orders and a quick-order box that takes item codes, yours or the buyer’s own. Most wholesale orders are repeats, so the shortest path is the one that matters.
EDI and punchout orders
Large buyers can order from inside their procurement system through punchout, or send orders by EDI, and the website still holds the catalogue they shop. A connection to a particular buyer platform or EDI network is scoped with an advisor and quoted.
A catalogue that ranks
Every product, brand and category gets a crawlable page with the maker’s part number, specs and datasheet. Contractors and buyers search by part number, and these pages are how a distributor gets found by new accounts.
Product safety details per listing
Each product page can carry its Prop 65 warning, safety data sheet, importer or responsible-person details and labelling for the markets it ships to. The information sits where the buyer orders, not in a PDF nobody opens.
Branch and dealer locator
Every branch gets a page with hours, stock and pickup, and lines sold through partners list their dealers. It answers the “where can I get this today” search that sends contractors to a competitor’s counter.
Orders into your ERP
Each order, account application and tax certificate is delivered to your team by email, or to your systems by webhook or API. A live connection to your ERP for stock, pricing and order status is scoped with an advisor and quoted.
Compliance
The rules for wholesale distributors, handled in the design
A distributor’s website touches pricing law, sales tax and product safety at once. These are the rules on advertised prices, resale certificates, product warnings, listing information and language that the designs are built around, each linked to its source.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your tax adviser, compliance lead or lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.

Minimum advertised price policies and your web prices
The FTC’s guide to manufacturer-imposed requirements explains that resale price agreements are judged under federal antitrust law, while a supplier acting alone may announce a policy and decline to deal with resellers who do not follow it. Distributors bound by MAP policies need control over which prices appear publicly; the designs show prices only after login or in the cart unless the client chooses otherwise.

Price maintenance, including minimum advertised prices
Section 76 of the Competition Act covers influencing a reseller’s selling or advertised price upward, or refusing supply because of low pricing, where competition is adversely affected; the Bureau’s guidelines address minimum advertised price policies directly. The site never presents a supplier’s pricing policy as binding on your own customers, and price display stays configurable per brand.

Resale certificates taken in good faith and on time
California’s tax agency explains that a seller who accepts a valid resale certificate in good faith and in a timely manner owes no tax on that sale, and that a certificate accepted late does not relieve the seller. The account application collects the certificate before the first tax-free order and records when it arrived.

- US · Streamlined states
One exemption certificate across member states
Member states of the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement accept a common certificate of exemption, given to the seller rather than the state, though not every state allows every exemption on it. The application accepts that form or a state’s own certificate, and tags each to the states it covers.

Prop 65 warnings before an online purchase
For products that need a Prop 65 warning, an online sale must show it before the purchase is completed, on the product page, through a clearly marked link or in a prompt, without the buyer having to look for it. Product pages carry the warning text the manufacturer supplies, shown before checkout to California delivery addresses.

- EU
Product safety details on online listings
The EU General Product Safety Regulation requires online offers of consumer products to show the manufacturer’s name and postal and electronic address, the EU responsible person where the maker is outside the EU, product identification with a picture, and any warnings or safety information. Product pages have fields for each, filled from the supplier’s data.

Catalogues and order forms in French
Section 52 of the Charter of the French language requires catalogues, brochures, commercial directories, order forms and similar documents offered to the public to be in French, with any other-language version allowed only if the French one is available on terms at least as favourable. Quebec’s 2024 regulation on the language of commerce applies this to information on websites and social media. Distributors selling into Quebec get a French catalogue and ordering path at least as complete as the English one.

Questions
Wholesale distributors: common questions
- How much does a wholesale distributor website cost?
- A wholesale distributor website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- Can trade buyers see their own prices after logging in?
- Yes. Guests see the catalogue, specs and stock status, and each approved buyer sees their own tier or contract price after login, with order history and saved lists. Price display can be set per brand, so lines with an advertised price policy show a price only in the cart or after login.
- Can buyers upload resale or tax-exemption certificates when they apply?
- Yes. The trade account application takes a resale certificate, a multistate exemption certificate or a provincial number, records the date it arrived and the states or provinces it covers, and holds tax-free pricing until your team approves it. Expiry reminders can ask the buyer for a fresh certificate before the old one lapses.
- Can the website take EDI or punchout orders from big customers?
- The site can hold the catalogue a punchout session shops, and orders can be passed to any system that accepts them by email, webhook or API. A live connection to a particular buyer’s procurement platform or your EDI network is scoped with an advisor and quoted, because each trading partner sets its own requirements.
- Do product pages need Prop 65 warnings or other safety information?
- For products that need one, a Prop 65 warning has to reach a California buyer before an online purchase is completed, and EU listings of consumer products carry the manufacturer’s details and safety information. Product pages have fields for each, filled from the data your suppliers send, and shown before checkout.Your compliance lead or lawyer decides which products need which warning; the site displays what they set.
- Will my wholesale distributor website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a wholesale distributor website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts. The product data export is usually the biggest input, so we start mapping it in the first week while the design is reviewed.
- Can I get one of these wholesale distributor website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for wholesale distributors. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
