Websites for tattoo studios
Tattoo shop website design built around the artist and the deposit
Tattoo studio website design for tattoo and piercing studios, with a client booking app where it fits: a portfolio filtered by artist and style, a consultation request that collects the idea, placement and references, deposit terms shown before payment, and the age and hygiene details your health unit or council expects.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a tattoo studio website include?
A tattoo studio website should show each artist’s own portfolio by style, take a consultation request with the idea, placement, size and reference images, and explain deposits and rescheduling before anyone pays. It should state the minimum age plainly, describe aftercare, and link to your registration or inspection details where your health authority publishes them.

- Ownership
- Yours after 12 payments

What every tattoo studio website includes
Portfolios by artist and style
Each artist has a page with their own work, filtered by style and marked fresh or healed, and every photo is credited and shared with the client’s consent. Visitors choose an artist first, which is how people actually pick a studio.
A consultation request artists can quote from
The form asks for placement, approximate size, style, colour or black and grey, and reference images, then routes the request to the chosen artist. It replaces the stream of “how much for a small one?” messages with a brief.
Deposits shown before payment
Deposit amount, what it holds, when it moves to a new date and when it is kept are on screen before the card form. Online deposits go through a payment provider, and the terms are emailed back with the receipt.
Age confirmation built into booking
Every tattoo request asks the client to confirm they are 18 or over, the site says ID is checked at the appointment, and piercing pages list their own age and consent rules. The studio never markets tattoos to under-18s.
Digital consent and health forms
Clients complete the consent and medical questions before the day, with the risks of the procedure explained in plain words. Forms are sent to your records system or saved as a PDF, never left in an inbox.
Aftercare pages clients reread
Aftercare for each type of tattoo and piercing, written to match what your artists say in the chair, with healing timelines and when to call. It is the page clients return to most in the first fortnight.
Guest artists and flash days
Guest spots and flash events get their own pages with dates, booking or walk-in status and the sheet itself. Pages stay up afterwards as part of the archive, so they keep bringing in searches.
Your artwork protected
Portfolio images are your artists’ copyright, so the site credits each artist, adds a usage note and avoids loading full-resolution files that are easy to lift. Client photos appear only with permission.
Compliance
The rules for tattoo studios, handled in the design
Tattoo and piercing studios are registered, inspected and age-restricted in ways that reach the website, from who may be offered a tattoo to how a deposit is taken. These are the rules we design around in Ontario, the US and the UK, each linked to its source.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your public health unit, council or lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- Ontario
Inspection results are public
Under the Personal Service Settings regulation, operators must post inspection results as the public health inspector requests, and boards of health publish results and infection-control lapses online. Ontario versions link to your health unit’s disclosure page instead of paraphrasing it.
Ontario Regulation 136/18 (Personal Service Settings) under the Health Protection and Promotion Act
- Ontario
Client records and explained risks
For invasive services such as tattooing, the same regulation requires a record of the client, the procedure, the body site, the date and that the risks were explained, kept for set periods. The online consent form captures those fields so the record is complete before the session.

- California
No tattoos offered to under-18s
California makes it a misdemeanour to tattoo, or to offer to tattoo, a person under 18, and the section has no parental-consent exception. Booking asks every client to confirm they are 18 or over, and nothing on the site is aimed at minors.
- Great Britain
The Tattooing of Minors Act
In England, Wales and Scotland it is an offence to tattoo anyone under 18, except for medical reasons, with a defence where the tattooist reasonably believed the client was older. UK versions state the age rule on booking pages and say ID is checked.
- England
Registration with the local authority
Where section 15 is in force, tattooing, cosmetic piercing and semi-permanent skin colouring may only be carried on by a person registered by the local authority, and normally only at registered premises. The footer carries the registration line as the council issues it; London boroughs license these treatments under their own legislation, and Wales has replaced registration with a national special procedures licence.
Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, section 15
- UK
Deposits taken online and the right to cancel
A service booked online is usually a distance contract with a 14-day cancellation period, and a studio should not start within it unless the client expressly asks. Deposit terms, cancellation rights and the client’s express request are shown and confirmed before payment.
Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, reg. 36
- US
Paid posts and client photos disclosed
The FTC’s Endorsement Guides, revised in 2023, expect endorsements to reflect honest experience and material connections, such as a free tattoo for a post, to be clearly disclosed. Sponsored work is labelled, and client photos and words appear only with permission.

Questions
Tattoo studios: common questions
- How much does a tattoo shop website cost?
- A tattoo studio website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- Can my tattoo website take deposits online?
- Yes. The booking step shows the deposit, what it holds and when it is kept or moved to a new date before the card form appears, and the client gets the terms with their receipt. Payments go through a payment provider you choose, so card details never touch the website itself. In the UK, a service booked online usually carries a 14-day cancellation right, so the terms and the client’s request to start sooner are confirmed at booking.
- What does a tattoo studio website have to say about age?
- In California and Great Britain it is an offence to tattoo anyone under 18, and California also bars offering to. The booking form asks every client to confirm their age, the site says ID is checked, and piercing pages carry their own age and consent rules, which vary by place and by piercing.
- Can clients fill in consent forms before their appointment?
- Yes. Consent and health questions are sent once the session is booked, with the risks of the procedure set out in plain words, and the signed form goes to your records system or is saved as a PDF. In Ontario that record also covers what the Personal Service Settings regulation asks studios to keep.
- Do you build tattoo booking apps for studios?
- For busy multi-artist studios, yes. A client app holds the request thread, references, deposit receipt, signed consent form and aftercare reminders, and each artist sees their own inbox of requests. It is planned with an advisor and quoted separately, and many studios start with the website and add the app later.
- Will my tattoo studio website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a tattoo studio website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts. You send a test request and pay a test deposit before launch, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
- Can I get one of these tattoo website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for tattoo studios. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
