The short answer
What should a home builder website include?
A home builder website needs floor plans and available homes buyers can filter, a page for each community or area you build in, a clear account of your build process and warranty, and an easy way to book a visit or consultation. In Ontario it must display your HCRA licence, and in the US its ads must follow fair housing rules.

What every home builder website includes
Floor plans buyers can filter
Each plan has elevations, room sizes and the options that change it, and buyers can filter by bedrooms, storeys and lot width, then save favourites and send them to your sales team.
Available homes fed from the sales list
Move-in-ready and under-construction homes come from one list your sales office updates, so a home that sold this morning is gone from the site this afternoon.
Community pages with real detail
Every community gets its own page with lot sizes, the site plan, schools and parks nearby, sales centre hours and directions, written for that place rather than copied between communities.
Warranty pages that match the law
Statutory warranty coverage is described first and plainly, with your own extra promises clearly separate, so marketing never suggests more, or less, than the buyer is entitled to.
Licence display where regulators expect it
Ontario builders show the HCRA licence and a link to the Ontario Builder Directory on every page; US builders show state licence numbers where required and the Equal Housing Opportunity line.
Visit and consultation booking
Model-home tours, sales centre visits and custom-build consultations book into your team’s calendars, with the community, plan interest and timeline attached for the sales advisor.
Found locally
How home builders get found in the areas they serve
Google runs the Business Profile and Local Services Ads programmes and decides who qualifies. We build the site and the area pages to Google’s rules and keep your profile accurate. Badges such as Google Verified (which replaced Google Guaranteed and Google Screened in 2025) are Google’s to grant, not ours.
- 01
Google Business Profile
Primary category “Home builder” or “Custom home builder”, with a separate profile for each staffed sales centre or model home, and none for a vacant lot, since Google expects a location that is staffed during its hours.
- 02
Local Services Ads
Where Google offers Local Services Ads for home building in your area, Google checks the business itself and may show its Google Verified badge. You apply to Google; most builders rely more on community pages and search.
- 03
Community pages, not doorway pages
Google’s doorway policy penalises near-identical location pages. Each community or area page carries its own site plan, lots, amenities and homes, so it earns its place in search on substance.
- 04
Fair housing in the ad settings
Housing ads on major ad platforms run under special housing categories that limit targeting. We set up campaigns and landing pages so neither the words, the pictures nor the audience suggest a preferred kind of buyer.
Compliance
The rules for home builders, handled in the design
Selling new homes brings rules most trades never meet: builder licensing and warranty enrolment in Canada, fair housing law on every US ad, and statutory warranties that a builder’s own promises must not understate. The builder concepts are drawn to respect them.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your provincial home-building regulator, warranty provider, state attorney general or real estate lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- Ontario
Display your HCRA licence on the website
The Home Construction Regulatory Authority says every new-home builder and vendor must be licensed, must prominently display the licence on their website and place of business, and must not advertise in a false or misleading way. The header area and footer show the licence and link to the Ontario Builder Directory.
- Ontario
Warranty enrolment before a home is offered
Tarion says builders must enrol each new home before offering it or signing an agreement, and attach a Warranty Information Sheet to every agreement. Ontario warranty pages describe the statutory coverage accurately and never call it “lifetime” or add coverage it does not give.
- US
Fair housing in every home ad
The Fair Housing Act bars housing ads that indicate a preference or limitation based on race, colour, religion, sex, familial status, national origin or disability, judged by an ordinary reader, and HUD guidance applies this to images and ad targeting. Copy describes the home, not the buyer, and US concepts carry the Equal Housing Opportunity line.
- Minnesota
Statutory new-home warranties come first
Minnesota gives buyers of new homes statutory warranties of one year for workmanship and materials, two years for plumbing, electrical and HVAC, and ten years for major construction defects. A builder’s own warranty is presented beside those rights, never as a replacement that seems to shorten them.
- US
Lot sales across state lines
The Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act, now administered by the CFPB, can require registration and a property report for some subdivision lot sales marketed across state lines. Builders selling finished homes are often exempt, but lot-only or large community sites are flagged for legal review before launch.
- California
Contractor licence number in builder ads
California requires a contractor’s licence number in all advertising for licensed work, websites included. Builders that also act as the licensed contractor show the CSLB number in the footer and on plan and community pages.

Questions
Home builders: common questions
- How much does a home builder website cost?
- A home builder website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.A large plan library or several communities may need the larger site; an advisor confirms the scope with you first.
- Do Ontario home builders have to show their licence on their website?
- The HCRA says licensed builders and vendors must prominently display their licence on their website, or on their main social media page if they use that instead, as well as at their place of business. We show it in the header area and footer and link to your Ontario Builder Directory listing.
- Can the website show available homes and keep them up to date?
- Yes. Move-in-ready and under-construction homes come from one list your sales office maintains, by spreadsheet or your sales software, and the site updates from it. A home marked sold disappears from search results and community pages straight away, so buyers do not chase homes that are gone.
- How should a builder website describe its warranty?
- Describe the statutory coverage first, in plain terms, then any extra promises of your own as clearly separate. Tarion enrolment and the Warranty Information Sheet apply in Ontario, and states such as Minnesota set statutory new-home warranties, so marketing must never suggest the buyer gets less, or a vaguer “lifetime” promise.
- What do fair housing rules mean for a home builder’s website?
- Ads and pages must not indicate a preference for or against buyers based on race, colour, religion, sex, familial status, national origin or disability. That covers words, photos and ad targeting. We describe homes rather than ideal buyers, use inclusive imagery and add the Equal Housing Opportunity line to US sites.
- Should each new-home community have its own page?
- Yes, if each page carries its own substance: the site plan, lot sizes, home styles, nearby schools and parks, sales centre hours and current homes. Copies with only the name changed fall under Google’s doorway policy, so we write each community from its own facts.
- Will my home builder website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a home builder website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts.Large plan libraries are loaded in batches, so the site can launch with your current communities first.
- Can I get one of these home builder website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for home builders. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
