Websites for handyman services
Handyman website design that fills the van’s week
Websites for handymen and home repair companies: a “what needs fixing?” quote that sorts small jobs from licensed work, hourly visits booked online, before-and-after repairs, and the licence number, or the “not a licensed contractor” statement, exactly where your state wants it.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a handyman website include?
A handyman website should list the small jobs you take, let customers describe or photograph a to-do list and book a visit online, and show before-and-after repairs. It must match your licensing: licensed firms show the number in every ad, and in states such as California and Arizona an unlicensed handyman has to say so and keep to small jobs.

What every handyman website includes
A job picker that knows your limits
The quote starts with “what needs fixing?” and lists only the work you take. Jobs that need a permit or a licensed trade, such as rewiring or moving a pipe, get a polite referral instead of a booking you cannot legally keep.
Visits sold by the hour or the list
Customers book a visit window and list everything on their to-do list with photos, so you arrive with the right parts and the visit is worth the drive, whether you charge by the hour or by the job.
Licence line set by state
Licensed firms enter their numbers once and they appear in the footer and on every estimate. Unlicensed handymen in states that require it get the “not a licensed contractor” statement instead, and the site never implies a licence you do not hold.
Before-and-after repairs from your phone
Upload a pair of photos and a one-line caption from the job, and the repair joins your gallery and the right service page, so visitors judge the finish on your own work, not stock images.
Punch lists for agents and landlords
A separate path for realtors, landlords and property managers takes an inspection report or turnover list and a deadline, so trade work arrives already itemised and ready to price.
Maintenance plans that renew
Seasonal visit plans with their terms in plain words, reminders sent only to customers who agreed to them, and each visit’s notes kept on file for the next one.
Found locally
How handyman services get found in the areas they serve
Google runs the Business Profile and Local Services Ads programmes and decides who qualifies. We build the site and the area pages to Google’s rules and keep your profile accurate. Badges such as Google Verified (which replaced Google Guaranteed and Google Screened in 2025) are Google’s to grant, not ours.
- 01
Google Business Profile
Primary category “Handyman/Handywoman/Handyperson”, with the jobs you take listed as services, a service area instead of a home address, and your real business name with no “24/7 repairs” added to it.
- 02
Local Services Ads
Where Google offers Local Services Ads for handyman services in your area, Google screens the business, may check licences where the category needs them, and may show its Google Verified badge. You apply to Google directly.
- 03
Suburb pages from real repairs
A page per suburb only where you work often, written from the repairs you do there and the homes you see. Google treats near-identical town pages as doorway pages, so each one carries its own photos and detail.
- 04
Reviews that mention the job
Handyman searches are often for one task, “TV mounting” or “drywall repair”, and customers who describe the work in their own words help both the Google profile and the matching service page. Review requests name the job you did and leave what to write to the customer.
Compliance
The rules for handyman services, handled in the design
For a handyman the rules are mostly about what you may advertise: which jobs need a contractor’s licence, how small a job must be to fall outside it, and what the ad must say either way. The designs below follow these sources, state by state.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your state contractors’ board, home improvement commission or lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- California
Small jobs only, and say you are not licensed
California requires an unlicensed person to keep to jobs under 1,000 dollars in total, labour and materials, that need no permit and with no employees, and to state in any ad that they are not licensed. Licensed contractors must show their licence number in all advertising. The site carries one or the other.
- Arizona
“Not a Licensed Contractor” on every ad
Arizona’s Registrar of Contractors requires a person who is not ROC-licensed to include the exact phrase “Not a Licensed Contractor” in every public advertisement. The handyman exemption threshold has been subject to proposed changes, so job limits are confirmed with the client. Unlicensed Arizona sites carry the phrase site-wide.
Arizona ROC — Changes to advertising requirements for contractors
- Florida
No contracting scopes without registration
Florida requires anyone who advertises as able to do state-licensed contracting work to be registered or certified, and every such ad to show the number. Handyman sites in Florida list only work outside those scopes, and never offer structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC or roofing work unless licensed.
- Maryland
Name and MHIC number in every ad
Maryland’s home improvement law puts the contractor’s name and MHIC number on every ad, and a handyman’s listed price that leaves out installation or necessary items must say so clearly. Maryland sites show the MHIC number site-wide and add that note to any listed price.
- New Jersey
HIC registration number on ads and vehicles
New Jersey requires registered home improvement contractors to display their registration number, beginning “HIC reg.#” or similar, in all advertisements, documents and commercial vehicles. New Jersey sites show it in the footer and on every estimate page.
- US
Three days to cancel a sale made at home
Small jobs agreed on a client’s doorstep can still be door-to-door sales: once a sale at the home reaches 25 dollars, the FTC rule gives the client until midnight of the third business day to cancel, with the notice handed over in writing. Estimates signed in the kitchen follow the client’s cancellation terms, and the site never says work is non-refundable once agreed.

Questions
Handyman services: common questions
- How much does a handyman website cost?
- A handyman website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.Booking software and call tracking, if you use them, are billed by their own providers.
- Do I have to show a licence number on my handyman website?
- If you hold one, usually yes: California, Florida, Maryland and New Jersey, among others, expect the contractor’s licence or registration number in advertising, websites included. We enter it once and it appears in the footer and on every estimate page, beside the name the licence is held under.
- Can I advertise handyman work without a contractor’s licence?
- In some states, within limits. California lets an unlicensed person take jobs under 1,000 dollars with no permit and no employees, but the ad must say they are not licensed; Arizona requires the phrase “Not a Licensed Contractor”. The site lists only jobs inside your limits and shows the statement your state asks for.
- Can customers book a handyman visit online?
- Yes. Customers pick a visit window, list their jobs and add photos, and the request reaches your inbox or booking tool for you to confirm. Because you see the whole list first, you can bring the right parts and tell the customer if any item needs a licensed trade instead.
- Should my site list prices for handyman jobs?
- You can show your hourly or visit rate, or prices for set jobs such as TV mounting, if they are firm. In Maryland, an advertised price that leaves out parts or installation must say so. Most handymen show a rate and confirm the full price in writing after seeing the job.
- Will my handyman website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a handyman website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts.Your state’s licence line is checked with you before launch, and booking connects in the final week.
- Can I get one of these handyman website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for handyman services. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
