Websites for churches and places of worship
Church website design that welcomes first-time guests
Church websites that make a first Sunday easy: service times and a plan-your-visit page up front, a livestream and sermon archive for the week between, online giving with proper receipts, and ministries, groups and events people can actually join.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a church website include?
A church website needs service times and the address on the first screen, a plan-your-visit page that answers what to expect and where children go, and a livestream with a sermon archive. It should offer online giving with receipts that meet tax rules, list ministries, groups and events with sign-up, and never endorse a candidate for public office.

What every church website includes
Service times and a real first-visit page
Times, address, parking and accessible entrances on the first screen, then a plan-your-visit page that explains what a service is like, how long it lasts and where children go, with a form so someone meets the guest.
Livestream and a sermon archive
The stream from your existing platform embedded on a watch page, with a reminder button, and every past message filed by series, speaker and scripture with notes, so the archive brings people back during the week.
Online giving that fits church life
One-time and recurring gifts to the general fund, missions or a building campaign, from a page or a text link, with receipts or acknowledgments issued the way your country’s tax rules expect.
Ministries, groups and serving
Pages for children, youth, music and care ministries, a small-group finder by day and area, and a serving form that sends each volunteer to the right team leader.
Events with registration
Camps, retreats, classes and seasonal services with dates, sign-up, payment where needed and reminders, listed on a calendar that the office updates once.
Kids’ safety, published
Your child protection policy, check-in process and the screening your volunteers go through, written for parents and linked from every children’s and youth page.
Church management software, connected
Groups, events, check-in and giving can stay in the church management or giving platform you already use, such as Planning Center or Pushpay, linked or embedded where that provider’s access allows.
Private prayer requests
A prayer request form that goes only to the pastoral team you choose, never to a public wall unless the person asks for that, with a note on who will read it.
Compliance
The rules for churches and places of worship, handled in the design
A church website speaks for a tax-exempt organization every day of the week, through its sermons, giving page and livestream. These are the rules the designs are built around; each one links to its source.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your lawyer, accountant or denomination’s advisors has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- US
No campaigning for or against candidates
The IRS says 501(c)(3) organizations, churches included, are absolutely prohibited from intervening in any political campaign for or against a candidate for elective office, and that this extends to statements on a website. Sermon pages, blog posts and links are written and reviewed with that in mind; issue teaching is fine, candidate endorsements are not.

Partisan activity by registered charities
CRA guidance lets a registered charity, a church included, take part in public policy dialogue that furthers its purposes, but never support or oppose a political party or candidate, directly or indirectly. Event and news pages keep policy comment separate from anything that could read as partisan.

Acknowledging tithes and offerings
IRS guidance for churches explains the written acknowledgment a donor needs for larger gifts, and lets a church state that only intangible religious benefits were given in return. Online giving sends an acknowledgment for each gift and a year-end statement with that wording available.

Official receipts for church gifts
A church that is a registered charity issues official donation receipts only for eligible gifts and must get every required element right, including the charity’s registration number and any advantage the donor received. The giving page links your receipting policy, and receipts come from your giving or church management system.

Music in streamed services
US copyright law exempts the performance of religious music in the course of services at a place of worship, but the exemption is written for the service itself, and a livestream or archived video is generally treated as a separate use. The watch page assumes streamed music is covered by the licences your church holds, and the footer says so.

Apps
Most churches already have a church management system with its own member app, and that is usually the right place for check-in and groups. A custom app makes sense for a larger or multi-site church that wants one place for watching, giving and joining.

Questions
Churches and places of worship: common questions
- How much does a church website cost?
- A church website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- Can people give online through our church website?
- Yes. A giving page takes one-time and recurring gifts to the funds you choose, such as general, missions or building, and can work from a text link too. It can use the giving platform you already have, where its access allows, so records stay in one place, and each gift gets a receipt or acknowledgment that follows your country’s tax rules.
- Can we stream our services on the website?
- Yes. Your stream from YouTube, Vimeo or your streaming provider is embedded on a watch page with a reminder button and live notes, and each service is filed in a sermon archive by series and speaker. Before streaming music, check your church holds the right licences: the US exemption for worship services does not clearly cover streams.
- What can a church say on its website during an election?
- A church can teach on moral and social issues, but in the US a 501(c)(3) church may not support or oppose any candidate for public office, and in Canada a registered charity may not support or oppose a party or candidate. That covers sermon pages, posts and links. We flag anything that reads as partisan before it is published.
- Does it connect to Planning Center or our church management system?
- Where the provider’s access allows, yes. Groups, events, check-in and giving can stay in Planning Center, Pushpay or the church management system you use, with the website linking to or embedding them, so the office updates each thing once. We scope the connection with you before the build and never claim a partnership with any provider.
- Can we ask for a church app, SEO or outreach marketing too?
- Yes. The same request form lets you ask for a church website, a church app, SEO so people searching for a church nearby find you, or outreach and event marketing, in any combination. Tell us your congregation size, campuses and current software. Churches with many campuses are quoted individually; book a demo and select the multi-location option.
- Will my church website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- Can I get one of these church website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for churches and places of worship. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
