Websites for photographers
Websites for photographers that book the shoot, not the compliment
Portfolio websites for photographers that load full-resolution work fast and still book the shoot: galleries by session type, an enquiry form that asks for the date and location, private client proofing, and print sales that run themselves.
- Website from $150/month, yours after 12 payments
- SEO plans from $149/month
The short answer
What should a photography website include?
A photography website needs a portfolio that loads quickly on a phone, a gallery for each kind of session you sell, and an enquiry form that captures the date, location and type of shoot. Add password-protected client galleries for proofing, clear starting prices or a pricing guide, and a booking flow with contract and deposit, so enquiries become confirmed sessions.

Built in
What every photographer website includes
Portfolios that load at full quality
Images resized and served in modern formats for each screen, lazy-loaded below the fold, with captions and alt text written per photo, so a sixty-image wedding story opens fast on a phone.
An enquiry form that qualifies the date
Date, venue or location, session type, guest count and how they found you, checked against your calendar, so you answer the couples you can actually take and send a polite note to the rest.
Private client galleries and proofing
Password-protected galleries where clients favourite and comment on images, download what they have paid for and order prints. We connect Pic-Time, ShootProof or Pixieset where their access allows, or build it in.
Contracts, retainers and session booking
A signed contract and retainer hold the date. Mini-session days sell fixed slots online, and the calendar closes a slot the moment it is paid, so nobody books the same twenty minutes twice.
Print and album sales
A print shop with paper, size and frame options, edition numbers where you sell limited runs, and lab fulfilment through the provider you already use, connected where its integration allows.
Copyright credit and release tracking
Your name and copyright notice travel with every page and download, and each published gallery records whether a model release is on file, so a client’s image never goes public by accident.
Location and venue pages that rank
A page for each venue, park or city you shoot in, with your own photos and real notes on light, access and permits, written to rank for the searches couples and families make.
Compliance
The rules for photographers, handled in the design
Photography sites carry copyright, release and consent questions on every page. Here is how the designs handle the main ones; each rule links to its source.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your lawyer or professional photographers’ association has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.

Who owns a commissioned photo
Since the 2012 amendments, the photographer is generally the first owner of copyright even when a client pays for the session, and an individual may use a photo commissioned for personal purposes privately unless the contract says otherwise. Contract and gallery pages state the usage you grant.

Registering your photographs
The US Copyright Office offers registration options for photographs, including group registration for published or unpublished photos, and registration affects the remedies available if work is copied. The portfolio keeps a date and title per image so registration batches are easy to assemble.

Credits and copyright management information
US law protects copyright management information, such as the author’s name and title attached to a work, against knowing removal or alteration. Each design keeps your credit and copyright notice on the page and in image metadata instead of stripping it on upload.
US — 17 U.S.C. § 1202, Integrity of copyright management information

Client testimonials and free sessions
The FTC’s Endorsement Guides expect testimonials to reflect honest experience and a material connection, such as a free or discounted session in exchange for a review, to be disclosed. Testimonial blocks have a field for that disclosure and only use words clients actually wrote.
US — Guides Concerning Endorsements and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 255 (eCFR)

Consent for mini-session announcements
Mini-session alerts and seasonal newsletters are commercial electronic messages under CASL. The sign-up box is unticked, names your studio as the sender, and every email has a working unsubscribe link.

Text alternatives for portfolio images
WCAG success criterion 1.1.1 asks for a text alternative for non-text content. Portfolio images get short written descriptions, and purely decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
Everything for photographers
Websites, apps, branding and SEO for photographers
Websites
Photographers websites built on the designs above, fast and set up for search.

Apps
Most photographers do not need an app: a fast site with client galleries does the job. An app earns its place when you run many sessions a week or sell to the same families every year.

Apps for photographersBranding
A photographer’s brand has to sit quietly beside the pictures: a mark that works as a small watermark, a palette that never fights the images, and a voice clients recognise in every email.

Questions
Photographers: common questions
- How much does a photography website cost?
- A photography website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- Can clients proof and order prints on my photography website?
- Yes. Each client gets a private, password-protected gallery where they favourite images, leave comments, download what they have paid for and order prints or albums. We connect Pic-Time, ShootProof or Pixieset where their access allows, or build proofing into the site if you would rather keep everything under your own domain.
- Will a full-resolution portfolio slow my site down?
- Not if it is built properly. Every image is resized for the screen viewing it, served in modern formats and loaded as the visitor scrolls, so a long wedding story opens quickly on a phone. Your originals stay safe in your archive; the website only ever serves display copies with your credit attached.
- Do I need a model release to show client photos on my website?
- Getting a signed release before publishing identifiable people, and always for children, is the safe practice, and many clients expect to be asked. Each gallery on the site records whether a release is on file, so a session without one stays private. Your lawyer or professional association can confirm what your contract needs.
- Can people book and pay a retainer on the website?
- Yes. Wedding and commercial enquiries go to a contract you send for e-signature with a retainer to hold the date, while mini-session days and portrait sessions can be booked and paid directly in fixed slots. The calendar closes a slot the moment it is paid, so it is never sold twice.
- Can I ask you for an app, SEO or marketing instead of a website?
- Yes. When you get in touch you can ask for any mix of a website, an app, SEO or marketing for your studio. Many photographers start with the website and add SEO for venue and location pages later; a client gallery or booking app is quoted separately when your session volume justifies it.
- Will my photographer website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- Can I get one of these photography website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for photographers. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
