The short answer

What should a car dealer website include?

A car dealer website needs inventory that updates itself from your feed, with a page per vehicle showing photos, kilometres, an all-in price and the Buyers Guide for used cars. Add a trade-in appraisal request, test-drive booking and a credit application. Finance and lease offers must carry the disclosures their payment figures trigger.

Built in

What every car dealer website includes

  • Inventory from your DMS or listing feed

Vehicles, photos, options and prices import from your DMS or inventory feed several times a day where the provider’s access allows, so a sold unit drops off the site and a fresh trade-in appears without anyone retyping it.

  • Vehicle pages that survive turnover

Each vehicle page has VDP structured data and a clean URL. When it sells, the page points shoppers to similar stock instead of a dead link, so search engines keep trusting the inventory section.

  • All-in prices by default

Advertised prices are entered as the all-in figure your market requires, with a single place to name which government charges are excluded, so freight, PDI and admin fees never appear as a surprise at the desk.

  • Buyers Guide on used listings

Used vehicles get a slot for the window Buyers Guide, as-is or with its warranty terms, in English and, where you sell in Spanish, Spanish. The listing text cannot contradict what the Guide says.

  • Trade-in appraisal requests

Sellers enter the VIN or year and model, upload photos and the odometer, and get a clear note that online figures are estimates. Requests reach your used-car manager with the vehicle details, ready for a call.

  • Finance and lease offers with their disclosures

Offers are posted from one form that requires the APR, term, amount due at signing and expiry date before a payment figure can be published, so a banner cannot go live missing what it triggers.

  • Test drives and service booking

Book a test drive on a specific stock number, or a service appointment for an existing vehicle, with reminders by email or text for those who opt in. Leads go to your CRM in ADF format where your CRM accepts it.

Compliance

The rules for car dealers, handled in the design

Dealer advertising is one of the most closely watched kinds there is: advertised prices, used-car disclosures and every finance or lease figure. Each rule below links to its source.

Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your lawyer, compliance officer or dealer regulator has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.

  • Ontario

    All-in price advertising

Ontario’s dealer regulation requires an advertised vehicle price to include every fee and charge the dealer intends to collect; only HST and licensing may be left out, and only if the advert says so clearly. Prices, cards and offers use the all-in figure with that one line.

Ontario — O. Reg. 333/08 under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, 2002

  • US

The Used Car Rule’s Buyers Guide

Dealers must display a Buyers Guide on each used vehicle offered for sale, stating whether it comes as is or with a warranty, and its terms become part of the contract. The rule is about the window; designs also show the Guide on the listing so online copy matches it.

US — FTC Used Motor Vehicle Trade Regulation Rule, 16 CFR 455 (eCFR)

  • US

    The CARS Rule was vacated

The Fifth Circuit vacated the FTC’s CARS Rule on 27 January 2025, so its specific add-on and offer-price requirements do not apply. Misleading pricing, add-on and financing claims remain unlawful under the FTC Act and state law, so the designs keep offers plain anyway.

  • US

    Finance advertising trigger terms

In a credit advert, a down payment, payment amount, number of payments or finance charge triggers more disclosures, and any rate must be stated as an APR. The offer form will not publish a payment without the down payment, the repayment terms and the APR.

    US — Regulation Z, 12 CFR 1026.24 (eCFR)

  • US

    Lease advertising disclosures

Regulation M says a lease advert that states a payment amount or an amount due at signing must also say it is a lease and give the total due at signing, the number, amounts and timing of payments, and any end-of-lease liability. Lease rows show each of those fields.

    OMVIC’s advertising guideline

OMVIC publishes its own advertising guideline for registered dealers, covering all-in pricing and how cash and finance prices may be advertised. We use it as the checklist for Ontario dealers’ offer pages, and your registration number sits in the footer.

Questions

Car dealers: common questions

How much does a car dealer website cost?
A car dealer website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
Can the website pull inventory from our DMS or feed?
Yes, where your DMS or inventory provider gives us access to a feed or export. Vehicles, photos, options and prices import on a schedule, sold units come off the site and new arrivals appear without retyping. We scope the connection with you before quoting, and we never claim a partnership with any provider.
How are prices and fees shown on vehicle pages?
Each vehicle shows one advertised price, entered as the all-in figure your market requires, and a single line naming any government charges left out. In Ontario that means every dealer fee is included and only HST and licensing may be excluded, said clearly. Freight, PDI and admin fees are never added below the price as a surprise.
Can we post finance and lease offers?
Yes. Offers are published from a form that asks for the APR, term, down payment or amount due at signing, and the expiry date before any payment figure can go live, because a payment in an advert triggers further disclosures under Regulation Z for credit and Regulation M for leases. Your finance office approves the wording before publishing.
Can BOOSTD build our dealership app or handle SEO and ads too?
Yes. Dealers use the same form to request a website, an app, SEO or marketing, so you can ask about a service-booking app, vehicle page SEO or stock-led advertising in the same place as a new site. For a dealer group with several rooftops, ask for a demo and choose the multi-location option, and we quote the whole network.
Will my car dealer website rank on Google?
It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
Can I get one of these car dealer website designs?
Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for car dealers. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
