The short answer

What should a private school or tutoring website include?

A school or tutoring website needs a tour or free-assessment booking on every page, a tuition and fees page that states what is included, and an admissions timeline with real dates. It should show how the school is registered, publish photos of students only with written parental consent, and handle any data from children under 13 the way COPPA expects.

Built in

What every private school or tutoring centre website includes

  • An enquiry-to-enrolment funnel

Enquiry, tour, application, assessment, offer, deposit: each stage has its own page and form, and every enquiry lands in your admissions inbox or CRM with the child’s grade and start year attached.

  • Tours and open houses that book themselves

Parents pick an open house, a private tour or an observation morning from a live calendar, get a confirmation and a reminder, and you see who is coming and for which grade.

  • A tuition page parents can actually read

Fees set by you, what they include, the payment schedule, deposits, sibling and bursary information and refund terms, written plainly, because a hidden tuition page sends families to a school that publishes one.

  • Free assessments for tutoring

A short subject-and-grade question, then a booking calendar for the free assessment or trial session, with the result sent to the centre director and a written follow-up template ready.

  • Photo consent built into the content

Galleries and news posts carry a consent check: photos of students are published only when the school has recorded written consent from a parent, and a withdrawn consent takes the photo down.

  • Programs and course pages that rank

One page per grade, program, subject or exam course, written from your curriculum and timetable, so “grade 9 math tutor near me” and “Montessori casa program” each have a page to land on.

  • A page for each campus or centre

Address, hours, staff, parking and drop-off directions, and booking for that location only, with each page tied to its own Google Business Profile.

  • Parent portal links, not a second system

The student information system, tutoring platform or payment portal you already run stays in charge of records; the website links or embeds it, as far as each vendor permits, and remains the front door for families.

Compliance

The rules for schools and tutoring, handled in the design

Schools and tutoring centres answer to education ministries, child privacy law and accessibility rules, and the website is where families check what a school says about itself. These are the rules the designs are built around; each one links to its source.

Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your lawyer, privacy officer or education ministry has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.

  • Ontario

    Private schools: what registration means

Ontario private schools must file a notice of intention to operate with the Ministry of Education each year, and the ministry says it does not license, accredit or oversee their operations. Admissions pages show the registration plainly and never word it as ministry approval or accreditation.

  • Ontario

    OSSD credit claims

Only private secondary schools inspected by the ministry may grant credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and the ministry lists schools that cannot. Course pages say “credit” only where the school is authorized, and the authorization is shown where families can check it.

  • US

    Children under 13 online

COPPA applies to sites and online services directed to children under 13, or that knowingly collect their personal information: a clear privacy notice and verifiable parental consent come first. The 2025 amendments add a written data-retention policy, with most changes due by April 2026. Forms address parents, and student logins sit behind a parent account.

  • US

    FERPA, where it applies

FERPA covers schools that receive funds from US Department of Education programs, which the department says most private K-12 schools do not. Where it does apply, a student’s photo can be directory information released only after public notice to parents, so the gallery treats every student photo as consent-only either way.

    Accessible school websites

Ontario’s accessibility standard asks private-sector and non-profit organizations of 50 employees or more, schools included, to bring public web content up to WCAG 2.0 Level AA, with narrow exceptions. Every design is built and tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, which also covers the older standard, whatever the school’s size.

    Disability access at private schools

The Department of Justice treats private schools that are not religiously controlled as public accommodations under ADA Title III, and its web guidance expects their websites to be usable by people with disabilities. Enrolment forms, tuition PDFs and tour bookings are built to be keyboard- and screen-reader-friendly.

  • Apps

Most schools and tutoring centres already pay for a student information system or a tutoring platform, so a custom app is rarely the first spend. Where it earns its place is the parent experience those systems leave clunky.

Questions

Schools and tutoring: common questions

How much does a school or tutoring website cost?
A private school or tutoring website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
Can parents book a tour or a free assessment on the website?
Yes. Parents choose an open house, private tour, observation morning or free assessment from a live calendar, get an instant confirmation and a reminder, and you see each booking with the child’s grade and preferred start date. It can sit on your own calendar or connect to the booking or admissions tool you already use, where the provider’s access allows.
Should a private school publish its tuition online?
Usually, yes. Families compare schools on cost early, and a tuition page that states the fee, what it covers, the payment schedule, deposits and bursary options keeps them reading instead of leaving. You set and update every figure yourself, and the page can sit behind an enquiry form if your board prefers.
Can we show photos of students on our website?
Only with written consent from a parent or guardian, and every design is built that way. The gallery and news posts check that consent is recorded before a student photo is published, and take it down if consent is withdrawn. Names are never paired with a child’s photo unless the family has agreed to that too.In the US, schools covered by FERPA have their own directory-information rules; your privacy officer confirms which apply.
Do we need to worry about COPPA on a tutoring website?
If your site or online classroom is aimed at children under 13, or you knowingly collect their details, yes. The designs address forms to parents, put student accounts behind a parent account, and link a privacy notice and data-retention policy. The FTC amended the COPPA Rule in 2025, with most changes due by April 2026, so your lawyer confirms the final wording.
Can we ask for a tutoring app, SEO or marketing as well as a website?
Yes. The request form on this page covers a new website, a parent or tutoring app, SEO and marketing, and you can choose more than one. Tell us your grades or subjects, your campuses or centres and your intake dates, and an advisor replies with what fits and a scoped quote for anything beyond a standard website.
Will my private school or tutoring centre website rank on Google?
It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
Can I get one of these school and tutoring website designs?
Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for schools and tutoring. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
