Websites for martial arts schools
Martial arts school website design that turns trials into members
Websites for dojos, jiu-jitsu academies, karate and taekwondo schools: a free trial class booked in under a minute, a timetable sorted by age and rank, membership terms shown before anyone signs, and a kids’ program page that answers what a parent worries about first.

The short answer
What should a martial arts school website include?
A martial arts school website should let a parent or adult book a first class in a few taps, see the timetable for their age and rank, and read the membership terms, fees and cancellation steps before paying. Kids’ programs need a safeguarding page and a clear photo-consent choice, and each location needs its own page.

What every martial arts school website includes
A trial class booked in a minute
A short form asks who is training, their age and a time, then confirms the class with what to wear and where to park. It replaces the contact form that waits days for a reply, which is where most first-class interest is lost.
A timetable by age, rank and style
Classes filter by age group, belt level and gi or no-gi, so a parent or a visiting grappler sees only what applies to them. Staff change it once and it updates on every page that shows it.
Membership terms before the sign-up
The agreement length, joining fee, monthly payment option and cancellation steps sit on the membership page in plain words. Several provinces and states regulate these contracts, and parents sign more readily when nothing is hidden.
Cancel the way they joined
Members who signed up online can pause or cancel online, with the steps written out. It keeps recurring tuition on the right side of automatic-renewal laws and stops chargebacks from frustrated families.
A kids’ program page for parents
Age groups, class length, what the children learn beyond kicks, after-school pickup and the instructors’ checks, written for the parent deciding tonight. Children’s details are collected from the parent, never from the child.
Safeguarding and photo consent
A page for the safeguarding policy, a named contact and how to raise a concern, plus a consent choice for photos and videos of minors at gradings. The gallery only shows children whose parents said yes.
Gradings, tournaments and seminars
Event pages with dates, divisions, entry prices and refund dates, and separate registration for competitors and spectators. Minors register through a parent, with consent captured on the form.
A page for each academy
Every location gets its own address, timetable, head instructor and trial booking, so a school with several academies is found by families searching near each one.
Compliance
The rules for martial arts schools, handled in the design
Martial arts memberships are consumer contracts, and many students are children. These are the website rules we design around for membership terms, cancellation, children’s data and safeguarding, each linked to the body that sets it.
Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your provincial or state consumer office, your governing body or your lawyer has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.
- Ontario
Membership contracts: one-year terms and capped joining fees
Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002 treats martial arts memberships paid in advance as personal development services: an agreement may not run longer than one year, only one initiation fee may be charged and it cannot exceed twice the annual fee, and a plan of equal monthly payments must be offered. The membership page states all three. A replacement act passed in 2023 is not yet in force.

- US · New York and other states
Cooling-off periods for martial arts contracts
New York’s health club services law covers martial arts instruction, lets members cancel within three days of signing and in listed circumstances such as moving away, and limits contract length. Massachusetts and other states have similar acts. State versions of the designs print the cancellation notice the local act requires beside the sign-up button.
- US
Recurring tuition sold online: terms, consent and an easy stop
The Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act requires the material terms of an online recurring plan before billing details are taken, the member’s express consent, and a simple way to stop the charges. The FTC’s 2024 click-to-cancel rule was vacated in July 2025 and the FTC reopened the question in 2026, so the designs follow ROSCA and keep online cancellation regardless.
- California
Online sign-ups must be cancellable online
California’s automatic renewal law, as amended from July 2025, requires that a membership taken out online can be cancelled online, with a prominent cancellation link or button, and that any retention offer does not block it. Every design keeps a cancel link in the member area.
- US
Children’s data collected through a parent
COPPA governs personal information collected online from children under 13, and the FTC’s amended rule had a compliance date of April 2026. The kids’ pages are written for parents: trial and registration forms ask the parent for the child’s details, and no form or chat invites a child to enter their own.
- Canada
Photos of young students need a parent’s consent
Canada’s privacy commissioners say children under 13 generally cannot give meaningful consent, so a parent decides for them. Grading and class photos of minors appear online only when a parent has opted in on the registration form, and a parent can withdraw that choice later.
- US
SafeSport for schools in the Olympic movement
Clubs affiliated with a national governing body in the US Olympic and Paralympic movement, such as those for judo, taekwondo and karate, fall under the SafeSport Code and its abuse-prevention policies. Affiliated schools get a safeguarding page that links the Code and explains how to report a concern.
- UK
Safeguarding for out-of-school clubs
The Department for Education’s code of practice for out-of-school settings, which includes sports and martial arts clubs, sets out safeguarding, staff checks and policies parents should be able to see. UK versions of the designs publish the policy and the designated safeguarding contact.

Questions
Martial arts schools: common questions
- How much does a martial arts school website cost?
- A martial arts school website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
- Should my martial arts school show membership prices online?
- We recommend it. Families compare schools before visiting, and a page that shows the joining fee, monthly payment and agreement length earns more trial bookings than one that says to call. In Ontario and several US states the contract itself must meet set rules, so the page and the agreement should match. If you prefer to discuss price in person, the page can still show what is included and how to cancel. Your consumer office or lawyer has the final word on your agreement.
- Can members cancel or pause their membership through the website?
- Yes. Members who joined online get a cancel or pause option in their account, with the notice period and any final payment stated before they confirm. California requires online cancellation for online sign-ups, US federal law requires a simple way to stop recurring charges, and it prevents the disputes that come from making people phone.
- How do you handle photos of children on a martial arts website?
- Each registration form asks the parent whether their child may appear in photos and videos online, and the gallery only uses images of children whose parents said yes. Names are never paired with a child’s photo. Parents can change their choice later, and the image is taken down when they do.
- Can the website take trial class bookings straight into our membership software?
- Bookings go to any system that accepts leads by email, webhook or API, with the student’s age, the class chosen and the parent’s contact details. A direct connection to your gym management or membership software is scoped with an advisor and quoted, since each product handles trials differently.
- Will my martial arts school website rank on Google?
- It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
- How long does a martial arts school website take to build?
- About 4 weeks for a local site and about 8 weeks for a larger one, counted from the day we have your content, logo, photos and licence details. A larger site is planned with an advisor first, so its timeline is confirmed in writing before any work starts. You book a test trial class and walk through the cancel path before launch, and nothing goes live until you approve it.
- Can I get one of these martial arts website designs?
- Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for martial arts schools. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
