The short answer

What should an auto repair shop website include?

An auto repair shop website needs online booking that respects your bay capacity, an estimate request that takes the vehicle, the symptom and photos, and a clear page on your warranty for parts and labour. Add the services you specialise in, your hours and towing contacts, and reminders that customers have agreed to receive.

Built in

What every auto repair shop website includes

  • Booking that knows your bay hours

Customers book against the time each job really takes and the bays you have, synced with your shop management system where the provider’s access allows, so the site never offers a slot your technicians cannot keep.

  • Estimate requests with photos

Drivers describe the symptom, add photos, a video of the noise and the warning light, and choose diagnosis or a specific repair. Your service writer gets a complete request instead of “my car is making a sound”.

  • Approvals by text, recorded

When a technician finds more work, the customer gets the revised estimate with photos and approves or declines each line. The approval is timestamped and stored against the repair order, which is what estimate laws care about.

  • Your repair warranty, stated once

Parts and labour warranty terms are written once and appear on the warranty page, the booking confirmation and the invoice template, in the length your province or state requires as a minimum and any longer cover you offer.

  • Service pages for real jobs

Brakes, diagnostics, tires, alignment, EV and hybrid service, each with what the job involves and how long it takes, so “brake repair near me” can land on the brake page rather than the homepage.

  • Reminders customers ask for

Maintenance and seasonal tire-swap reminders by email or text, only for customers who opted in, with a working unsubscribe, sent from your own records rather than a list bought from anyone.

  • Reviews without the tricks

Review requests go to every customer after the job, not only the happy ones, and the site shows reviews as written. No incentives for positive reviews, and no staff reviews without saying who wrote them.

Compliance

The rules for auto repair shops, handled in the design

Auto repair rules are mostly about the estimate, the authorization and the warranty, plus the reviews and reminders around them. Each rule below links to its source.

Sources gathered October 1, 2026. This is how our designs handle these rules, not legal advice: rules change and differ by province and state, so your lawyer or your provincial or state consumer protection office has the final word, and you approve every page before it goes live.

  • Ontario

    Written estimates before repairs

Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act requires a repairer to give a written estimate before working, unless the customer declines one in writing, and the final bill cannot exceed the estimate by more than ten per cent. The estimate form captures that choice and the customer’s authorization.

  • Ontario

    The minimum repair warranty

The same Act sets a minimum warranty on new and reconditioned parts and the labour to install them: 90 days or 5,000 km, whichever comes first. The warranty page states that minimum and any longer cover you give, and the invoice template repeats it.

  • US · state law

    California’s written estimate and authorization

California’s Automotive Repair Act requires a written estimated price for parts and labour, no work or charges before the customer authorizes it, and consent before exceeding the estimate. Body work needs an itemized estimate naming new, used or aftermarket parts. Estimate and approval screens follow that order.

California — Business and Professions Code § 9884.9

  • US

Maintenance at independent shops and warranties

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer generally cannot void a new-vehicle warranty only because maintenance was done at an independent shop or with non-brand parts. The site may say so, links the FTC’s explanation, and stresses keeping records rather than overstating the rule.

  • US

    Consumer reviews and testimonials

The FTC’s rule on consumer reviews bars fake reviews, reviews bought for a particular sentiment, undisclosed reviews by managers or staff, and suppressing negative reviews. The review widget shows reviews as written and the request goes to every customer.

US — 16 CFR 465, Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (Federal Register)

  • Canada

    Consent for service reminders

Under CASL, a recent repair can give implied consent to send commercial messages for a limited period, but marketing reminders still need your identity and an unsubscribe. The sign-up asks for express consent so reminders can continue once that period ends.

  • Websites

  • Apps

For most independent garages, a booking page and text approvals do what an app would. An app pays off for multi-bay shops and fleet accounts with drivers who come back often.

Questions

Auto repair shops: common questions

How much does an auto repair shop website cost?
An auto repair shop website of up to 25 pages is $1,500 paid upfront, or $150 a month for 12 months, and it is yours after the 12th payment. A larger site of up to about 100 pages is $4,000, or $400 a month. Hosting and care is $29 or $49 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
Can customers book appointments online?
Yes. Customers choose a job and a time from openings based on your bay hours and how long each job takes, and pick drop-off or wait. Where your shop management system allows it, bookings sync with it, so the site never offers a slot your technicians cannot keep. Confirmations and reminders go by email or text.
How does the website handle estimates and approvals?
Drivers request an estimate with the vehicle, the symptom and photos. When a technician finds more work, the customer receives the revised estimate with photos and approves or declines each line, and that decision is timestamped. Ontario and California both tie the final bill to an estimate the customer authorized, so a recorded approval protects you and the customer.
What should our warranty page say?
It should state what your warranty covers, for how long and how to make a claim. In Ontario the minimum is 90 days or 5,000 km on new and reconditioned parts and the labour to install them, and your own cover can go further. The same terms appear on the booking confirmation and your invoice template, so nobody hears two versions.
Can BOOSTD also do a repair-approval app, SEO or marketing for our shop?
Yes. A garage can bring a website, app, SEO or marketing request to one form: a new site, a repair-approval or fleet app, local SEO, or review and ad campaigns. Say how many bays and locations you run. For several shops or a franchise, ask for a demo and choose the multi-location option.
Will my auto repair shop website rank on Google?
It launches with the technical SEO done: fast pages, clean structure, structured data, local pages and redirects from your old site. To keep climbing, a BOOSTD SEO plan from $149 a month runs 262 checks on your site every week, fixes what is safe to fix and gets the rest ready for your OK.No one can promise a position on Google, and we never do. Google warns businesses about anyone who does.
Can I get one of these auto repair website designs?
Yes. Each is a complete, ready-to-launch website design BOOSTD made for auto repair shops. Pick one and we make it yours, with your name, colours, photos, content and the licence or compliance details your industry expects, from $150 a month and yours after 12 payments.Approved client sites are shown with a “Client work” tag, and only with the client’s written permission.
